Netflix isn’t giving up on streaming ‘Star Wars’ and Marvel movies

Netflix Star Wars

Disney a few days ago announced a move that makes perfect sense for the company: it will launch two standalone streaming services, including one that will compete directly with Netflix, and a sports service. The giant studio also said that come 2019, when the movie streaming service should be unveiled, some of its licensing deals with Netflix will expire, especially the ones covering new movies. Joint Disney-Netflix plans like Jessica Jones will not be affected.

However, it appears that Netflix isn’t ready to give up on certain Disney movies and it’s still negotiating a deal that would extend beyond 2019 for some franchises.

‘Star Wars Battlefront 2’ already looks better than the first

The Star Wars Battlefront reboot from a couple of years ago was a pretty big hit across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Star Wars is obviously a hugely popular franchise, so anything less than complete and utter failure meant that a sequel was inevitable. We first got a look at Star Wars Battlefront 2 a couple of months back, but at today's EA Play event at E3, the company rolled out a lengthy gameplay video as well as an all-new trailer.

‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ now scheduled to release on May 24th, 2019

Star Wars: Episode IX release date

In just over two years, the third Star Wars trilogy will come to a close. That's what Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Company revealed on Tuesday by announcing that Star Wars: Episode IX will release on May 24th, 2019. There had been rumors that the movie would release in the summer, but now we have confirmation and an official date (pending any unforeseen delays, of course).
