How to get the iPhone 7’s biggest feature without needing to upgrade

apple-plugs
There's no need to spend $649 to get all the functionality of Apple's latest iPhone. Thanks to this clever hack, you can have all the benefits of the iPhone 7 with just a tenth of the wallet hit. Removing the headphone jack was, without a doubt, the most innovative move from Apple today. Forget the dual-lens camera, the ridiculously fast processor or waterproofing: the best new feature is vanishing the headphone jack. By removing that and replacing it with two expensive Bluetooth earbuds, Apple has forever removed the problem of having to plug in your headphones, listening to music for more than five hours at a time, or being happy.

Dolphin teaches human that iPad pictures are dumb

Dolphin iPad Snatch
The iPad has a camera, but that doesn't mean you should take it places and use it like a camera. In fact, if you do that, you are an objectively awful human being. But don't just take my word for it: this dolphin, a member of another highly intelligent species, clearly agrees. This golden moment was captured on film at SeaWorld Orlando, made infamous by 2013 documentary Blackfish. Fox 11 has the full clip, captured by SeaWorld season pass holder (yep, that's a thing!)  Kuadiel Gomez.

The funniest thing you’ll see today: Elderly people react to the HTC Vive

HTC Vive Reaction Video
Although it hasn't quite taken off like many pundits and enthusiasts expected it too, there's no question that the era of virtual reality has begun. Both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive have made their way to thousands of homes around the world, and Sony's PlayStation VR is just a few months away. VR has definitely arrived, but that doesn't mean that everyone is ready for it.

‘Pleasantly surprised’ man gives jail cell positive TripAdvisor-style review

1468264264748
If you have to spend a night in jail, a new facility in Birmingham, U.K., might not be a bad option. It’s recently received an impressive TripAdvisor-style review that's been generating plenty of buzz. A British man wrote the review, in the style of TripAdvisor or Yelp, of the jail cell he spent the night in, and decided the facility in the Perry Barr district of Birmingham was pretty good. The pen-and-paper review was shared on Facebook by Birmingham Police and via a statement on the West Midlands Police website. “On arrival at perry barr I was impressed by how modern and clean the building looks,” the unnamed 24-year-old reviewer, picked up for “criminal damage” in Erdington, England, wrote. “Once in my cell I was again pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and decor.”

The Europas — It’s time for different type of tech conference

awards3 (1) Let’s face it. Some tech conferences have lost their way. While TechCrunch Disrupt remains a firmly curated, media-driven, event, with hundreds of journalists attending, a couple of other conferences have really gone for scale. A minimum of 15,000 people, thousands of companies, echoing halls — and a lot of investors (and journalists) turning their badges around so they don’t… Read More

This is why you shouldn’t livestream your baby’s birth on Facebook

Facebook Live Birth Livestream

Maybe check those privacy settings next time

A Facebook Live stream made headlines on Monday, as father-in-the-making Kali Kanongata'a livestreamed his baby's birth on Facebook Live. Only, Kanongata'a didn't realize he was livestreaming to 120,000 people -- he thought it was just going out to friends and family. As People reports, Kanongata'a just "intended to share the video on Facebook so that his family on the Polynesian island of Tonga could share in his joy." They did -- but they were joined in their joy by 120,000 other random strangers off the internet. But the video at least has a happy ending for him:
"We just see it as a positive. I know some people are mad that it's not private, but I'm from the island [of Tonga], and years ago, we would have water births in public. I wasn't too worried about hiding anything because our culture has done this for thousands of years."
