Despite Switch launch, Nintendo will disappoint us yet again at E3 2017

Nintendo E3 2017

For the fifth year in a row, Nintendo will not hold a traditional press conference at E3 in Los Angeles. Since 2013, the company has opted for a pre-recorded live stream over a staged event, and during a financial briefing this week, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed that the trend would continue at this summer's E3, where Nintendo will still have a presence on the show floor.

Pokemon Bank app finally updated for ‘Pokemon Sun and Moon’

Over two months after the launch of Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, the Pokemon Bank application has finally been updated to work with the latest portable entries in the series.

For those of you who have never heard of the app, Pokemon Bank is a paid service that allows Pokemon players to transfer their Pokemon from one game to another. Starting this week, players will be able to transfer creatures from virtually any Pokemon game on the 3DS, including the Virtual Console versions of the Game Boy games Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow.

The 10 best video games of 2016

Best Games of 2016

It happens every generation, but it never stops taking me by surprise. 2016 was the year that I finally settled into the new generation. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One no longer felt like new hardware — these consoles have been sitting beneath my TV for three years now, even as so much else around them has changed.

They say familiarity breeds contempt, and they're not altogether wrong. I'm no longer taken aback by the incredible visuals of every new triple-A title. I've seen what these machines are capable of. I can't forgive minor flaws as easily as I could in 2014. I expect more from a $60 game now than I ever have in the past.

Thankfully, for the most part, game developers in 2016 were up to the challenge.
