Friday 5: Affinity Photo – a must-have photo editing app for iPad Pro owners [Video]

When Serif’s Ash Hewson took the stage in San Jose during the WWDC 2017 keynote, you just knew that something big was about the be announced. That announcement, which didn’t disappoint, turned out to be Affinity Photo for iPad. The flagship desktop app makes its way to iOS for the first time after initially appearing on Mac and PC.

It only took hackers three weeks to jailbreak iOS 11

A few days ago we saw a video that showed the various iOS 11 features inspired by jailbreak apps or Android. At the time, I said that Apple should still unofficially support iOS jailbreaks in the future, as they bring up some great ideas for the future of the mobile operating system. It turns out that iOS 11 has already been jailbroken, and the latest developer beta can be hacked to run unsupported apps on it.

MacBooks really aren’t safe from malware any more

A new Threats Report from McAfee Labs reveals that malware targeting Apple's Mac platform is on the rise. Not only that, but the cumulative number of Macs infected by malware during the first quarter of 2017 was higher than it's ever been during any previous quarter. While the Mac famously has a reputation for being impervious to malware, the reality is that malware creators typically avoid targeting the Mac on account of its relatively small user base.

Instagram testing a new way to let you share photos with select friends 

Instagram has been developing a new way to share photos and videos on the social network with select friends, Instagram’s product lead Robby Stein tells The Verge.

The new feature lets you select certain friends as Favorites, then new posts can be visible to all followers or just the select group of groups you put together.
