Elon Musk confirms that the first Tesla semi-truck prototype is ‘completed’

Tesla Semi Truck

Even though the Model 3 is barely a few months old, Tesla has no plans to sit back and rest on its laurels. On the contrary, the company was initially planning to unveil its long-rumored Tesla semi-truck at a special event in late October. Recently, though, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the event has been pushed back until November 16. Given Tesla's penchant for missing deadlines, Musk took to Twitter and clarified that the delayed unveiling was due to the company "diverting resources to fix Model 3 bottlenecks and increase battery production for Puerto Rico and other affected areas.” Following that, Electrek reports that Musk yesterday sent a follow-up email informing invited guests that the "first Tesla Truck prototype is completed."

Researchers find that Google’s AI has a higher IQ than Siri

Siri Vs Google

When Siri first hit the scene in 2011 -- as the flagship feature on the iPhone 4s, no less -- it was a novel piece of software to say the least. The early version of Siri wasn't terribly powerful, but it was able to answer relatively basic queries and handle rather simple tasks such as setting reminders. In subsequent updates, Siri became much more powerful, even adding contextual awareness along the way. Equally as important, Siri's ability to parse and understand language improved by leaps and bounds as well.

Though Siri's capabilities today are far more advanced than the version that shipped six years ago, it's not as if Apple has the market cornered on AI-powered assistants. On the contrary, Siri today faces stiff competition from a number of tech behemoths, including Amazon, Microsoft, and of course, Google. Pitting competing intelligent assistants against one another is nothing new, but a team of researchers at Cornell recently implemented a rather unique approach.

iPhone X’s Face ID feature has Android rivals interested in advanced facial recognition

iPhone X Face ID

The influence Apple exerts across the smartphone industry is undeniable, so much so that Android handset manufacturers are already adjusting their product roadmaps in response to the iPhone X's new Face ID feature. According to MacRumors, reputed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently issued a new research note stating that "inquiries by Android smartphone vendors into 3D-sensing technologies have at least tripled since Apple unveiled its TrueDepth camera and Face ID technology."

It's worth mentioning that the iPhone X's TrueDepth camera system, while primarily used as the foundation for Face ID, has the potential to enhance the user experience in a myriad of other ways, with the introduction of the quirky Animoji feature being just one example.

This is the last battery pack you’ll ever need

Best USB-C battery pack 2017

I'm a big fan of the little battery packs that fit in a bag and give your phone a second life. They can be lifesavers on a long commute home or a delayed flight. But why stop at your phone?

Two technology improvements -- the cheapness and energy density of batteries, and the rise of USB-C -- are making small battery packs that can charge a laptop a realistic option now. Although laptop-charging packs have existed for a while, they've generally been restricted to MacBooks and a handful of high-end Windows laptops.

You can forget about all that. There's a new breed of battery packs in town, and if you can look past the fact that this one is crowdfunded, it's one of the best.

We're still a few weeks removed from iPhone X pre-orders opening up, but spy shots of Apple's upcoming iPhone have already started to trickle in. Just last week, for instance, a photo purporting to show the iPhone X's packaging surfaced online. More recently, a video making the rounds on Reddit showcases the iPhone X with some dynamic wallpaper.
