Stunning NASA photos reveals how badly Hurricane Maria damaged Puerto Rico’s power grid

puerto rico before and after

Puerto Rico is in the middle of an incredible crisis thanks to the unspeakable destruction Hurricane Maria wrought. Aside from the physical toll and damage to buildings and infrastructure, one of the biggest impacts the storm had was on the US territory's electric power grid, and a new series of images shot by NASA reveals the extent of the outage.

There's no area of the island that wasn't dramatically affected, and many areas which are typically brightly lit are simply pitch black in the aftermath of Maria.

That’s certainly a lot of money for a smartphone, but new research from RBC Capital Markets says that some 57 percent of buyers are interested in the high-end variant.

Feature Request: Apple should color match all accessories for space gray products in black

Apple has made white accessories a signature design since the white earbuds dangled from the white iPod in 2001. The company even made a whole ad campaign out of the instantly recognizable white cord.

Since then, its cables, adapters, and other accessories have generally followed that trend. With the darker space gray color available as a default on iPhones, iPads, and even MacBooks nowadays, the standard white accessories have started to look cheap and tacky and not iconic for many customers.

Apple currently offers very few accessories in black, leaving that to third-party vendors (or as premium exclusives with the upcoming iMac Pro). I believe black should be standard.

Speaking with Futurism at a recent event in New York City, Shostak was incredibly bold in his predictions, noting that he'll "bet everybody a cup of coffee that we'll find intelligent life within 20 years."
