The iPhone 8 makes the Galaxy Note 8’s price seem even more absurd

Galaxy Note 8 vs. iPhone 8 vs. iPhone X

It’s still more expensive than any smartphone to date, but it seemed in line with what’s expected from a 2017 iPhone rival made by Samsung. But now that Apple unveiled the prices for all three 2017 iPhones, the Galaxy Note 8’s price seems like one huge gimmick.

Google is finally making a convertible MacBook killer

Chromebook Pixel 2 release date

Google has persevered with the Chromebook Pixel, its flagship Chromebook meant to showcase its laptop OS. The device has previously existed as a curiosity for developers, but if this leak is real, things are about to get a lot more serious.

Droid Life has a source that says Google is going to announce a new Google Pixelbook at its event in October. It'll be a $1,200 convertible Chromebook -- ambitious, to say the least, but with the right engineering, it could be fantastic.

Google has a cheaper, cuter version of the Home coming

Google Home Mini

About a year ago, Google unveiled its first AI-powered smart speaker, a device it appropriately named Google Home. Featuring a sleek form factor, Google Home was designed to fit in nicely with most any living room and performs the type of tasks you'd expect from a smart speaker. Still, with the smart speaker market heating up amidst competition from the likes of Amazon and Apple, Google is reportedly looking to diversify its smart speaker lineup with the introduction of a more affordable smart speaker that may be called Google Home Mini.

NASA is about to send a spacecraft to steal rocks from an asteroid

asteroid earth

When it comes to studying samples of otherworldly material, scientists on Earth are in a bit of a bind. We've brought rocks back from the moon, and our Mars rovers take samples, process them, and then send the data back to us, but it's pretty difficult to gather rocks from other celestial bodies. NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission is about to attempt that remarkable feat not by traveling to a nearby planet, but by hitching a ride on a rock that's actually traveling to us instead.

A future iOS 11 update will enable faster wireless charging on iPhone 8 and iPhone X

iPhone 8 vs. iPhone X

Apple’s three new iPhones are the first ones to feature wireless charging out of the box. That means you don’t have to buy a separate iPhone case to enjoy a feature that some Android devices have had for years. For the time being, the iPhone 8 and iPhone X models only get slow wireless charging, which is about as fast as charging it from the wall with the default charger. But that will change in the near future.
