The next major Xbox One update might make the dashboard usable again

Microsoft has tooled with the Xbox One user interface pretty frequently since the console launched in 2013, but no matter how much work the developers put into it, the dashboard is still difficult to navigate and as slow as its ever been. Thankfully, on Monday, Microsoft unveiled another major overhaul that is set to arrive for Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Ring of testing starting this week.

Google’s Pixel has an awesome storage trick the iPhone lacks

Regulator slams Apple for ‘anti-consumer’ behavior

Being a globally dominant tech brand means playing nice with regulatory bodies wherever they exist and navigating those treacherous waters is something even Apple seems to have trouble doing. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is providing us with the latest example of this shortcoming, and the group is taking Apple to task over its refusal to allow a custom-made do-not-call app to be installed on iOS devices sold in the country.

Even after leaking, ‘Game of Thrones’ still pulled in record viewership on Sunday

Game of Thrones season 7

Shortly after HBO fell victim to a hack in which 1.5TB worth of data was stolen, the fourth episode of the current season of Game of Thrones leaked online in an unrelated incident. HBO was having a rough week, but the network finally got some good news on Tuesday courtesy of Nielsen. According to the company, this weekend's episode of Game of Thrones drew 10.2 million viewers when it aired at 9:00 PM ET, which is the largest initial audience the show has ever seen.

Twitter is now testing out Night Mode on its desktop website

Last August, Twitter finally released Night Mode for its iOS app, which brings a much darker UI when scrolling through your timeline. The official Twitter app for macOS has had Night Mode since its major redesign in December of 2015, but if you prefer to access Twitter through the official website, it looks like Twitter is now testing out this feature for select users.

Watch five years of the Curiosity rover’s travels in a five minute time-lapse

NASA's Curiosity rover just celebrated its five year anniversary on Mars, which is one mighty impressive milestone for a vehicle whose primary mission was initially slated for just 687 days. In honor of this momentous occasion, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory put together a fantastic video time-lapse of Curiosity's travels, complete with five years worth of camera footage from one of the vehicle's many built-in cameras crammed into roughly five minutes of video.

Earlier this summer, T-Mobile announced a new program called JUMP! On Demand that would allow subscribers to upgrade to a new device up to three times per year without paying a fee. For consumers who want to be on the cutting edge, it's an exciting offer, but it got even better this week as the carrier quietly updated the fine print in order to allow subscribers to upgrade once every 30 days.
