Only Android users can get the good version of Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger Lite: Android APK download

Facebook's quest to get humanity to spend every waking moment in a Facebook-owned app has ruined Messeger lately. Right now, Messenger is far more about Stories and photos than it is about communicating with specific people, which is dumb.

Even worse is that Facebook does make a good Messegner app. It's called Facebook Lite, and it's a stripped-down, data-friendly version of Messenger aimed at users in developing countries, who have slower phones and limited data connections. Officially, it's not offered in North America, but The Verge has noticed that there's a workaround. The only catch is that it's Android-only.

New Model 3 spy shot shows off an elegant wood trim on the interior

Tesla Model 3 Design

With June just around the corner, we're inching ever closer to Tesla kicking off mass production on the highly anticipated Model 3. Barring any unforeseen developments, Tesla is still planning to begin Model 3 mass production in July, followed by deliveries to early reservation holders towards the latter half of 2017. Of course, given Tesla's track record, it wouldn't surprise anyone if the first Model 3 deliveries don't actually begin until mid-to-late December.

That notwithstanding, Tesla currently has all hands on deck as the company continues road testing Model 3 release candidates with increasing frequency. And while the overall design of the Model 3 is more or less locked in, the interior of the Model 3 remains something of a mystery. While Tesla showed off the Model 3 interior when it unveiled the vehicle last year, the overall design was curiously sparse, with no instrument cluster to be found.

Our favorite Roomba robot vacuum can now be controlled by Google Assistant

Roomba 960 Price

The annual Google I/O conference took place on Wednesday, and we heard all about Google’s new hardware and software products Google is developing. Of course, Google Assistant was one of the main focuses during the company’s keynote, since everything these days is about AI and machine learning. Google’s announcements surrounding Assistant were great, but there was another cool development with Google Assistant that happened offstage on Wednesday. For the first time, Roomba vacuums will support Google Assistant! Support was added to two different models, including our favorite, the iRobot Roomba 960 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner.

"iRobot is aggressively pursuing opportunities within the connected home to improve our customers' experience with our cleaning robots,” iRobot CEO Colin Angle said in a statement. “Voice-command devices have found great success in the marketplace and it’s clear that customers are demanding easier ways to interact with a growing number of products and technologies throughout the home."

Here’s everything else you need to know from the product page:

  • iAdapt 2.0 Navigation with Visual Localization enables Roomba to navigate and clean an entire level of your home
  • Runs for up to 75 minutes, then automatically recharges and resumes cleaning to complete the entire job
  • iRobot HOME App lets you clean, schedule & set custom cleaning preferences from your smartphone
  • AeroForce 3-Stage Cleaning System delivers improved cleaning performance
  • Tangle-free extractors prevent hair and debris jams
