This new battery tech breakthrough could mean even faster electric vehicles

new battery technology

Electric vehicles have a few key advantages over traditional combustion-powered cars, and one of the biggest is the potential for extreme acceleration. The Tesla Model S, for example, can go from a standing stop to 60 mph in as little as 2.3 seconds, beating out cars with badges reading Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche. Now, thanks to a new breakthrough in battery technology developed by researchers at North Carolina State University, electric cars could become even faster, which is actually somewhat terrifying to think about.

Will Ferrell brings back his Bush impression for ‘Not the White House Correspondents’ Dinner’

Will Ferrell's George Bush impression

Shortly before Donald Trump's announced that he would break with tradition and skip the White House Correspondents' Dinner this year, Samantha Bee revealed on her TBS show Full Frontal that she would be hosting an alternative event on the same night, regardless of whether or not Trump showed up.

Not the White House Correspondent's Dinner (as it was so cleverly dubbed) took place on Saturday night as planned, and although the response has been mixed, several segments seemed to go over especially well with the audience. One of those segments saw the return of Will Ferrell's Bush impression.

Apple has $250 billion in cash just lying around

Apple Earnings

The iPhone, in addition to turning the entire smartphone industry on its head, helped transform Apple into one of the most valuable companies on the planet. With a market cap bordering on $770 billion at the time of writing, not to mention a stock price trading at an all-time high, Apple investors are sitting pretty right about now. Tomorrow, Apple will release its earnings report for the quarter gone-by, and if iPhone sales check in higher than anticipated, Apple shares may skyrocket even higher.

Asus C302 review: A $500 MacBook for everyone

Asus C302 Review

What makes the perfect "everyday" computer? You probably have a different definition of the ideal day-to-day laptop than me, but I'm willing to be there's some crossover: minimal weight, enough battery life to last most of the day away from the plug, a clear and crisp screen, good keyboard and mouse, and enough power that you're not left waiting.

If you take those as the important criteria and forget about Mac vs PC vs anything else, then a lot comes down to price. You shouldn't overpay for a laptop you're not going to use to the max, and that's why I would argue that this $500 Chromebook is the laptop most people should buy right now. At the very least, it's the most capable sub-$500 laptop you can buy right now.

Opinion: It’s time to rethink early Apple Watch apps, not abandon them

Despite having its own App Store on the iPhone, Apple Watch has had a mixed experience with third-party apps during its first two years on the market. The first round of apps heavily relied on the iPhone to work, then Apple later allowed developers to run apps natively on the Apple Watch. Some high-profile iPhone apps still have outdated Apple Watch versions or no version at all. Now a few big name companies are quietly pulling their existing Apple Watch apps altogether.
